Jose Mangin
LatiNation / Co-Host
An Arizona native, Jose started his musical career at student run radio station, KAMP in Tucson. He then moved to Memphis to study Pharmacy at the University of Tennessee's College of Pharmacy.
Deciding against a career in pharmaceuticals, Jose pursued his dream in radio. He honed his skills as AMD/DJ at WMFS (Memphis) where he earned Album Network's "Metal Director of the Year" in 1999. Jose then moved to New York City working for TVT Records, as National Director of College and Metal Radio Promotions representing acts, such as, Sevendust, Guided By Voices and Nothingface to the masses.
Passionate to get back into the radio booth, Jose landed a gig at the country's first satellite radio provider, Sirius Satellite Radio. For over four years, he helped to build Sirius's killer rock stations, acted as a Sirius's national spokesperson and helped bring Latin Alternative Music to the forefront of America through the satellite radio waves.
Jose was a featured rock correspondent on the nationally syndicated program, Urban Latino TV interviewing prominent rock bands, such as Spineshank and Ill Niño. He also served as the main host for Sonidos Vol. 3: Alternative Music Special which was syndicated to over 40 markets nationwide.
Currently as Format Manager for Hard Attack (Metal) and Octane (Hard Rock) channels on Sirius, Jose keeps busy juggling his time as an on-air host weeknights for Hard Attack, as co-host of LatiNation and his most important job, as a dad for his "metalbaby," Mya Maria.
